For the Christian, it can often be difficult to reconcile being both sinner and yet righteous by faith. It is a dichotomy that can truly seem so contradictory as to not even be possible. But yet, being baptized into Christ's death and resurrection, the sinner is declared blameless, Jesus' righteousness being imputed to the sinner's account for Jesus' sake.

Our lion design focusing on Dr. Martin Luther's "Simul Iustus Et Peccator", or "At Once Justified and Sinner", shows the tension of the difficult, yet true, state for the Christian believer. But rather than focus on the believer himself, this design re-focuses the concept of "Simul Iustus" back to Jesus Christ and the cross.

This shirt bears one of Dr. Martin Luther's most well-known phrases, "Simul Iustus et Peccator" or "At Once Justified and Sinner" (also commonly translated as "Simultaneously Sinner and Saint").

Creeds have been used by the church since its very beginning. The New Testament Scriptures contain many primitive creedal formulations. Showing that, from the time of the Apostles, creeds have been an important part of the Church’s heritage. One use of creeds is as a confession of faith for those being baptized, which explains their three-part division into articles on the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Apostles’ Creed is an example of a baptismal creed.

Another important use of creeds is to combat heresy. In the early 4th century, a priest named Arius taught that the Son was not God in the same way that the Father was God.

In this presentation Pastor Butler examines the significance of the Tabernacle and the Ark of the Covenant as a prophetic picture of the person and work of Christ. The parallels to Christ and His ministry are highlighted and drawn in high relief against the background of both the Old and New Testaments.

The ministry of the priests is compared and contrasted to the ministry of Christ.

Year after year the priests entered from outside the Tabernacle to perform the prescribed washings and sacrifices. From there they would enter the Holy place to burn incense on the altar, place the loaves on the table of the showbread, and tend to the lamp of God. Once a year the High priest would enter the holy of holies, the most holy place, to sprinkle the blood of the sacrifice on the mercy seat, the covering of the ark. It is Pastor Butler’s contention that Jesus made the same journey, only He did it in reverse order, from the holy of holies to outside the tabernacle.
