Did the apostles and the earliest church, when called for, cognitively defend the Gospel as true or no?

This is for those Christians who accuse you of being an "intellectual pointy-head" when you argue that some non-Christians need to converse with us regarding the truthfulness (or lack thereof?) of the Gospel claims.

Bruce has a chapter on "the defense of the truth of the Gospel to the Jews," another on "the defense of the truth of the Gospel to the pagans." St. Paul, for example, took very different approaches depending on the circumstances (think of him at the Synagogue contending that Jesus was the promised Christ, as opposed to him being on Mars Hill addressing pagans philosophers).

Testimonials

It is with great joy that I recommend the products on this site. The theology behind them alone is reason enough to purchase any of the items. In our day, we have sadly lost sight of the wondrous doctrines of grace, and may God use these products and site to kindle a Reformational blaze within our hearts.

Coming from an Evangelical background after having been baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church as a child, it was a refreshing Christ-centered gulp of water to my soul to finally understand the marvels of grace alone, Christ alone, and Scripture alone.
Soli Deo Gloria
