Another Great Sermon

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

I heard one of the best sermons I have heard in a long while this past Sunday. Pastor William Cwirla preached this sermon and its worth the 15 minutes or so to listen to the MP3 version. I can’t speak highly enough about the quality of his preaching. The website I am linking to has all his sermons, and you can find some real gems.

Bible In An Hour Update

Saturday, July 19th, 2008

We’ve been getting a lot of demand for Pastor Wade Butler’s Bible In An Hour. So much so, that we ran out of the original run of compact discs of the presentation that we had in stock. Hey, we told you to get’em before they were gone, right?

Well, we’ve been working with Pastor Butler to be able to fire up a whole new run of the compact discs, with updated intro and wrap-up audio and CD artwork, very soon.

For the moment, while we work out the details, the Bible In An Hour products will not be available in our catalog, so please bear with us if you’ve gone looking for them and can’t find them. We expect to have them available again very soon, both in the CD and MP3 versions.

We’re very excited that Pastor Butler has chosen New Reformation Press to be the exclusive distributor for Bible In An Hour and can’t wait to see the new stuff he’s working on. We think you’re going to love that as much as Bible In An Hour… maybe even more.

So, come back soon if you’re looking to get a copy of this presentation. I promise you won’t wait long.

The God Whisperers

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

Among the program lineup on Pirate Christian Radio, I would like to call your attention to a particular show entitled The God Whisperers. Pastors Bill Cwirla and Craig D’Onofrio have a talk show somewhat modeled on “Car Talk”—a show heard on National Public Radio. Right now they are touring through Luther’s Catechism. I can guarantee that there has never been anything like this on Christian radio before. I am not going to ruin it by telling you what to expect. Tune in at PCR or go to their website godwhisperers.com and get the podcasts of the shows. If you enjoy the irreverence and edginess of The White Horse Inn, you will love The God Whisperers.

Pirate Christian Radio… Again

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

Many of you may have already heard of Pirate Christian Radio.

For those of you who have not, it is a streaming online radio station created to provide a platform for the cancelled and now resurrected radio program Issues, Etc. which is a program focusing on apologetics, doctrine, and other issues from a Lutheran perspective. The station is now host to a couple dozen other shows; everything from service and sermon podcasts to historical and doctrinal formats.

The creation of Pirate Christian Radio is a momentous event for confessional Lutherans and those who are concerned with Reformation doctrine in general. For a long while Lutherans have lagged behind the rest of the church in media outreach. PCR changes that and thrusts us out on the cutting edge of participation in the conversation of the church at large. The Lutheran voice has been largely missing in the public sphere, especially in the dialogue between differing theological traditions. Those days are over. PCR gives voice to the treasures of the Reformation that have long been hidden behind synodical politics and old school Lutheran insularity.

Another reason that I find this exciting is because it will allow great preachers whose congregations lack the resources to share their gifted pulpits with a wider audience the opportunity to give the gospel a worldwide hearing. You will hear some great preaching and teaching, some of the finest anywhere.

I urge you to support the station by listening, and by telling all your friends and family about it. Don’t be afraid to support them financially. Chris Rosebrough and Pastor Craig D’Onofrio, the masterminds behind the station, are committed to financial integrity and transparency.

These guys have just started the station from scratch and are still working out some of the “bugs” but things are improving daily and eventually all the shows will be podcast so you can listen at your convenience. More shows and great content are being added weekly. Visit the site and check out the schedule. You won’t find a better or more consistent lineup of theologically sound programming anywh

Our Great Christian Toast - “To That Washing”

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

You’re probably going to be hearing this or seeing the text around (as we work to make it available on some things in our store) - we think this is one of the best Christian drinking toasts out there.

This toast is a creation of our very own Pat Kyle, who came up with it on-the-fly one night while we and some other friends were all hanging out together (and, yes, drinking… we ARE Lutherans, after all). We thought it was so wonderful that we immediately pressed him to not forget it so we can always hear that when it’s time to toast and raise our glasses in thanks to all that is given to us and done for us in Christ Jesus.

You will likely begin hearing this on Pirate Christian Radio and we are very happy to share it with everyone. Download and listen to the MP3, read the text, memorize it so that you can be prepared to say it with your brethren over your favorite adult beverage when the time to toast arrives.

To that washing that declares us blameless and pure that will cause us to stand without shame on that day. Amen!

SOCO Presentations On Pirate Christian Radio

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

If you’ve been listening to the new online radio station, Pirate Christian Radio, you may have heard some of the presentations they’re airing which are produced by Mr. David Atkinson of South Orange County Outreach (SOCO). Mr. Atkinson has been working tirelessly to produce some simply fantastic Gospel-centered presentations which are probably unlike anything you’ve heard.

We are currently working with Mr. Atkinson to make the SOCO presentations available here at NRP—in MP3, audio CD and DVD versions. We are very excited to be able to help bring these powerful messages to the ears of listeners the world over who have not yet had the chance to attend them and hear the graceful words spoken there.

We have not finished hammering out all the details yet, but rest assured that this is something that is a high priority for us. We will update you when we have more information.

Until then, please go and visit Pirate Christian Radio and the new Issues, Etc. program and take a listen to the preaching the good news of Christ Jesus crucified for the sins of the world. And while you’re there, please consider a donation to them as best you can in support of their wonderful work.
